Group Voice program

Ages 5 and up

Overview

At Learn The Arts!®, our Group Voice program offers a unique and exciting approach to vocal training. Designed for beginners aged 4-17, our classes bring young singers together to create their first vocal ensemble. Students learn to sing as a team, fostering discipline, teamwork, and most importantly, a love for music. In our supportive environment, students work on vocal technique, artistry, performance skills, and collaboration. This comprehensive approach not only develops their singing abilities but also prepares them for various musical settings, whether it's performing a solo, participating in musical theater, or joining a band. Our students build a singing family, eagerly anticipating each week's class.

For beginners, singing in front of an instructor can be intimidating. However, in our group setting, students find themselves in a fun, supportive environment with peers their age. From day one, students are warmly welcomed and introduced to each other, creating a comfortable atmosphere for learning. While covering all the elements of private lessons, group classes add a valuable social dimension. Through music games and friendship-building activities, students learn proper technique, artistry, and performance skills. This collaborative approach naturally enhances musicianship and ear training. Group voice lessons also teach the importance of working well with others, a skill that's invaluable in any musical setting. By learning to sing with others, students are well-prepared for future solo performances, musical theater productions, or band participation.

At Learn The Arts!®, we tailor our curriculum to different age groups, welcoming all levels:

Elementary students focus on building a strong foundation. They learn essential breathing techniques, vowel shapes, voice placement, and explore various songs. While emphasizing group singing, we also provide opportunities for solos.

Middle school students delve deeper into vocal techniques and music concepts, applying these skills to their individual voices. They develop crucial aural skills by actively listening to the music created around them. The curriculum balances class and individual participation, with regular instructor feedback. Students work on song projects together, preparing for performances.

High school students are trained in active listening, both to themselves and their classmates. They explore different musical styles and genres, enhancing their versatility as singers. The curriculum covers aural skills, basic music theory, and harmony application through solos, duets, and group songs. There's a strong emphasis on performance skills, with ample opportunities for both class and individual participation.

Every child is unique in their learning preferences. Some thrive in collaborative settings, while others may prefer one-on-one instruction. For beginners, we always recommend trying group voice for a month or two. Our instructors at Learn The Arts!® will closely monitor your child's progress and provide regular feedback, offering recommendations as needed. This trial period allows us to assess whether group or private lessons (or a combination of both) would best suit your child's needs and goals.

For students eager to maximize their musical growth, we often recommend combining private and group voice lessons. This dual approach offers the best of both worlds. In group classes, students learn to keep pace with their peers, follow a structured curriculum, and enjoy the fun of learning together. Private lessons, on the other hand, allow for more personalized focus on specific interests or areas needing improvement. The group class builds a strong foundation and social skills, while private lessons offer the flexibility to explore individual musical tastes and goals. If you're interested in this powerful combination, our front desk staff at Learn The Arts!® would be happy to discuss the options with you.

At Learn The Arts!®, we go above and beyond the typical music school experience. Instead of just offering small recitals once or twice a year, we provide our group voice students with diverse performance opportunities to celebrate their progress and build confidence. Our spectacular biannual concert events are held in real theaters, where students can showcase the magic of group voice as an ensemble for their loved ones.

But that's not all – we offer a range of performance experiences throughout the year. From monthly complimentary performances at community venues to virtual concerts and special events, there's always an opportunity for our group voice students to shine. We believe in making these experiences accessible and enjoyable for all, which is why we offer many of these additional performance opportunities at no extra charge.

Whether your child is singing their first duet or participating in a full choral performance, Learn The Arts!® is committed to providing rewarding performance experiences that showcase their growing skills and boost their confidence. These frequent, varied performances not only allow students to share their music but also provide valuable real-world experience that typical music schools can't match.

Join us at Learn The Arts!® and let your child experience the joy of group vocal training and performance!
