Not at all! While reading music can be beneficial, many successful bassists primarily play by ear or read tablature. At Learn The Arts!®, we introduce music reading and tablature at a pace that's comfortable for you. We also teach playing by ear and feeling the groove, ensuring you have a well-rounded skill set. Our goal is to make learning enjoyable and accessible, so we adapt our methods to suit your learning style and musical interests.

While having a bass at home is ideal for practice, it's not necessary to start lessons. We have bass guitars available for use during your initial lessons. For home practice, many beginners start with an affordable electric bass and a small practice amp. As you progress, we can advise you on selecting the right bass guitar based on your needs and musical interests.

One of the many benefits we offer our members is "membership pricing" on instruments and equipment. Depending on the bass guitar, this can be well below internet pricing. For higher-end basses or amplifiers, we also offer convenient payment plans. This means you can get the instrument you need to practice and progress without breaking the bank.
